Larry Hernandez's Alleged Victim Claims Narco-Corrido Singer Threatened His Life Several Times

Jose Andrade, the concert promoter Larry Hernandez allegedly kidnapped and beaten in South Carolina, said that the narco-corrido singer threatened his life many times before he escaped.

In an interview with Telemundo translated by Fox News Latino, Andrade said he feared for his life and that of his family during the incident with Hernandez, which occurred in August.

"I was not his promoter. At no time did I speak to him to come to South Carolina," he said in a Spanish-language interview, as reported by Fox News Latino. "I was in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Hernandez, 38, is facing charges of kidnapping, assault, and assault and battery causing injury, said Los Angeles airport police spokesman Rob Pendregon, Los Angeles Times reported. The "Larrymania" star was scheduled to fly on Southwest Airlines from Ontario to Denver on Friday, Sept. 25, but was stopped and arrested at the LA/Ontario International Airport at 2:39 PM, Billboard wrote.

According to Andrade's interview with Telemundo, he seeks justice for what Hernandez did to him and that "if this has happened to someone else, they should not remain silent," Fox News Latino added.

Last week, a California judge ordered the Mexican regional singer to be extradited to Newberry, South Carolina to stand trial. Andrade said he wants to be present at the trial to witness what Hernandez has to say with him "present there, knowing what he did," the news outlet noted.

According to La Opinion, the reality star was angry over not being paid the promised amount for his performance at a Newberry skating rink. Andrade eventually escaped and filed a report with police officials.

A report from WLTX said that just before 5AM back in August, "the two victims, one of whom was in charge of paying performers for the concert, went to a hotel where Hernandez and other members of his group were staying to pay Hernandez for his part of the ticket sales." The victims told police that they paid Hernandez $14,000, but he demanded a $30,000 payment and said that he will hold one of them until the other one comes back and pays him the desired price.

After the other victim left, Hernandez and two other men reportedly "wrapped the victim in clear plastic and began hitting him, then threw him into a brick wall," WLTX added. They also dragged the man inside their tour bus and continued on beating him up.

The other man eventually went back and paid the remaining sum, WLTX noted. Hernandez didn't show up when he was sworn in by authorities for questioning, hence the arrest, Billboard added.
