Apple and Google recently unveiled their latest respective smartphones: the iPhone 6S and the Nexus 5X. Both mobile devices are equipped with impressive specs and features designed to enhance performance. One question plagues consumers, though: which smartphone should they purchase?

Here's how iPhone 6S and Nexus 5X compare with each other.

Design & Display

Apple's new iPhone comes with an aluminum body and a design that is nearly identical to the iPhone 6, Bidness ETC wrote. The iPhone 6S has dimensions of 138.3 x 67.1 x 7.1mm and has a display size of 4.7 inches Retina HD with 3D Touch (1334-by-750-pixel resolution at 326 ppi). At 143 grams, the device is a little heavier than its predecessor due to the new 7000 series aluminum.

The iPhone 6S is available in Silver, Gold, Space Gray, and Rose Gold color options, Apple's official site listed.

LG Display Co., in comparison, opted for a matte plastic design for the Nexus 5X similar to the previous Nexus 5 model, Bidness ETC further reported. A visible Nexus logo is also printed on the back of the new smartphone.

Google's new handset has a larger screen display than the iPhone 6S. The Nexus 5X comes in at 5.2 inches and measures 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm, weighing at 136 grams, GSM Arena wrote. Its screen resolution is at 1080 x 1920 pixels (~424 ppi pixel density).

The Nexus 5X can be purchased in Carbon Black, Quartz White, and Ice Blue. Protecting the screen is Corning Gorilla Glass 3, along with a fingerprint and smudge-resistant oleo phobic coating, the news outlet added.

Specs

The Nexus 5X runs using the 1.8Ghz hexa-core 64-bit Qualcomm SnapDragon 808 processor, GSM Arena added. Other specs include the Android Marshmallow 6.0, 2GB of RAM, 12.3MP primary camera with dual-LED flash and laser autofocus, 5MP front-facing shooter, 2700 mAh battery, and the USB Type-C connector.

The new iPhone is powered by Apple's own 64-bit 1.89GHz A9 chipset, which has a built-in M9 motion co-processor that helps strengthen battery life, Bidness ETC noted. It also has 2GB of RAM capable of managing 3D and graphic-demanding games with the help of Apple's Metal API.

Other specs include iOS 9, 12MP iSight camera, 5MP front-facing shooter, and Touch ID, Apple listed. The iPhone 6S' camera is equipped with phase detection auto-focus and a True-tone dual LED flash.

Price

The Nexus 5X's 16GB variant costs $379 while the 32GB model is at $429. The device can be purchased directly from the Google Play store and will be shipped in late October, Bidness ETC reported.

The iPhone 6s' 16GB model can be purchased for $649, the 64GB for $749, and 128GB for $849. Customers can purchase the device through Apple's website and in major U.S. mobile retailers, the news outlet wrote.
