'Fast & Furious 8' Release Date, Trailer & Final Trilogy: Vin Diesel Offers 'Quasi-Response' to Film-Stalling Blame

Vin Diesel speaks up about the upcoming "Fast & Furious" movies in the wake of a report that places the blame of the stalled "Furious 8" movie on him.

Last week, a report from The Hollywood Reporter claimed that the 48-year-old action star was the major reason why the eighth sequel to the franchise has yet to proceed with production.

According to the report, Diesel was a member of the cast and production crew that made "Furious 7" director James Wan refuse taking on the franchise's succeeding film due for release in 2017.

After that, Universal Pictures had an apparent dilemma of finding a new director for the film especially after "Fast 5" and "Furious 6" director Justin Lin also declined the studio's offer.

An unnamed source allegedly told THR that Wan consider the responsibility of helming a "Fast & Furious" movie "could have been life ending" rather than "life-altering."

"Insiders confirm that the $200 million, two-year production of Furious 7 was so demanding that it actually compromised Wan's health," the report read, adding that aside from Walker's death, "sources say Diesel proved extraordinarily difficult."

Now, the "Fast & Furious" actor-producer has cleared the air by making a statement over his ever-so-popular Facebook page.

"My producing partner Neal [Moritz] would love for me to just sign off on a director, but this is too special a franchise, so these matters have to be very carefully handled. To be clear, NO ONE has been offered to helm Fast 8 yet... let alone seen a script," the post read.

Aside from this "quasi-response," Diesel also announced in his post that fans of the "Fast & Furious" franchise would expect three more movies filled with automobile action and drama.

"The fans of the Fast & Furious SAGA are the best fans in the world... Since I became the Producer in 2008, you have been with me every step of the way... literally giving me feedback that proved invaluable. Thank you," he declared.

Of course, there is always the idea of Vin Diesel directing the trilogy himself. In fact, some fans urged him to do so.

"Vin, helm Fast 8 yourself. You know what you want for us fans and for yourself. Give it a go. Do it for yourself and do it for Paul. You have what it takes. Go that extra mile," Adam Mossman wrote.

Either way, the actor-producer has declared that he would reveal the next film's director in another post on his social media account.

"I promised the studio I would deliver one last Trilogy to end the saga. I will announce the directors on my next post..." he wrote.
