'Batman vs Superman' Trailer, Cast & Plot Spoilers: General Zod 'Dawn of Justice' Revelations Here

Michael Shannon says his statement about his character General Zod having flippers in the upcoming film "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" is a joke that everyone took seriously.

Speculations that Shannon's character General Zod is Doomsday exploded after the 41-year-old American actor described a humorous anecdote to Vulture last month.

"I was in my costume, and I couldn't use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands," Shannon started.

"So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn't open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, 'Where's Shannon? Where the f**k is he?' and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, 'Let me out of here!'" he reportedly narrated.

This revelation immediately led to speculations cited by Comic Book that maybe Zod, after 'dying' in the hands of the Man of Steel, is experimented on by Superman's foe Lex Luthor where he accidentally "triggers the Doomsday genome" that then re-animates his corpse.

While it has not been confirmed yet, many outlets got the word and spread it like wildfire over the Internet.

But hold your horses because while the speculations "almost made sense," a more recent statement from the actor says that this is just "some ridiculous bullsh*t answer" he gave to someone in New York who apparently took it seriously.

"Somebody was asking me about this in New York and I made up some ridiculous bullshit answer about how my character Zod has flippers, and this went viral on the Internet or something and people have been asking me about that. That is so obviously a complete bullshit story, right? But people took it seriously," he told the Daily Beast.

Furthermore, the actor also revealed that he "wasn't there," saying: "It's a really awkward situation-I'm in the trailer for a movie that I didn't work on."

Shannon also explained that his character's brief appearance as a corpse in the film's teaser was to explain why Russell Crowe's character in "Man of Steel," Jor-El, lived on despite having been killed after their planet was destroyed.

"The thing about the whole Krypton universe, apparently, is that even when you destroy them, there are ghosts. The first [film], Jor-El is there even though he's been dead for lord knows how long," he stated, confirming that he did some voice-over for the film for his "ghost."
