Adrian Peterson Says He's Already a Hall of Famer; Vikings RB Wants to Be 'The Greatest Player'

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson claimed that he feels like is already part of the Hall of Fame but said that he still aims to be the "greatest player" in the league.

Peterson, who is set to play in the Hall of Fame Game scheduled on Sunday night in Canton, said in a New York Daily News report that he could already cap his career and feel like he is a Hall of Famer.

"I'm going to be blunt and honest with you. I feel like if I didn't play another snap in my life, I got the opportunity to go in the Hall of Fame right now," he said.

Being part of the greatest players in the history of NFL is considered a "no-brainer" by Peterson despite the domestic violence controversy that involved him.

The running back added that he still aims to improve and be the best in the league with his remaining seasons in the NFL.

"Not just the greatest running back, the greatest player," he said.

Asked whether his 15-game suspension last year for "abusive discipline" on his own child hindered this plan, Peterson definitively said no.

"I don't think it will have an impact on how I'm remembered, because at the end of the day, it's still the game of football; people looking at what you do on the field. I think more so the fans of Minnesota (will remember) because it's your hometown team. But not to the extent that I think you think it will be. I don't think it will be too damning," Peterson said in an NFL report.

Peterson is one of the best in the league. New York Daily News said that he has a record of 10,190 yards and 86 touchdowns.

According to ESPN, Peterson has expressed that his relationship with his team has become stronger. He also said that he can see himself playing for the rest of his career with the Vikings.

Saying that he has gained a better appreciation of his career, the running back said that he enjoyed playing football for what it is.

"But I would say just now, going into it, it's even more of a game to me. I just realize it for what it is, because life is way bigger than football, the NFL, the Hall of Fame, things like that. Life is way bigger than that. That's why I think I'll be able to come out here and just enjoy it more," Peterson told ESPN.

The returning player also claimed that he realised that he was "just a small piece" when it comes to the franchise.

"In the big scheme of things, they're going to do what's best for them. It puts things in perspective. That's kind of how I look at things now," the running back said.

"It's like, I don't owe the NFL anything. It's a privilege for me and every other guy that's on this field. For them, without us, they don't make a dime. That's how I look at it now."
