Sony is said to be adding another handset to its Xperia Z line.

There are claims saying that the Sony Xperia Z5 could be unveiled before this year ends. The corporation's alleged handset is expected to compete directly against the Moto X 2015 and the Nexus 5 2015, as per Ecumenical News.

Listed below are the latest rumors and speculations about the Xperia Z5. Note that these are all unconfirmed at the moment and an official announcement from Sony is yet to be had.

Display & Design

According to Ecumenical News, Xperia Z5 will come with an improved design and impressive hardware. Reports are saying that the handset will still bear a metal and glass OmniBalance design just like its predecessors. Aside from these, the Xperia Z5 will be dust and water resistant, as well as a slimmer body.

Venture Capital Post added that the handset's design will be based on Sony's BRAVIA television set, which boasts of a clean front end and a frosted glass effect. Christian Today claimed that the Xperia Z5 will have two variants: the Z5 Compact and Z5 Ultra.

Processor, Battery, OS, & Memory Storage

The Xperia Z5 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 820 processor and a 4,500 mAh battery capacity, Ecumenical News claimed. It will run using Android M and 4 GB of RAM.

The Xperia Z4 is powered by the Snapdragon 810, which is plagued with overheating problems, Venture Capital Post reported.

Camera & Other Features

As for its camera, the Xperia Z5 is said to be equipped with Sony's latest 21 MP Exmor RS IMX230 CMOS sensor, which contains face detection, geo tagging, panorama mode shooting, and touch focus features, the news outlet added. Its rear shooter is rumored to have the capacity to record 2160p videos at 30 frames per second, 1080p at 60 fps, and 720fps at 120 fps. The front camera, on the other hand, is expected to record 1080p HD video at 30 fps. In addition, the device will have 4K video recording and HDR recording capacities.

There are also rumors saying that the Xperia Z5 will have the Qualcomm Sense ID fingerprint scanner, Ecumenical News wrote. If this rumor turns out to be true, then the Xperia Z5 will be the first smartphone from Sony to be equipped with the feature.

Price & Release Date

Ecumenical News speculated that the Xperia Z5 will be announced at the IFA 2015 scheduled in Berlin in September. It is estimated to have a price range from $700 to $800.
