Microsoft's Surface Pro 4 is expected to go directly against Apple's new iPad Pro when the two gadgets finally get released in the market. Some reports, however, are claiming that the Surface Pro 4 will launch before the iPad Pro alongside the Windows 10 on July 29.

Apple Insider claimed that Apple is currently developing an iPad Pro with a unique and larger keyboard. It is said to have the same pixel resolution (2,732 x 2,048) as the iPad Air 2, and could run using a specialized version of OS X.

Listed below are the latest rumors about the Surface Pro 4's specs and features rivaling the rumored iPad Pro. Note that these are all unconfirmed by Microsoft at the moment.

Processor, RAM, & Memory Space

Several sources, including Yibada, claimed that the Surface Pro 4 will be powered by Intel's latest Skylake processors, which is expected to be launched in August. If this rumor turns out to be true, then the hybrid device could come out by September. However, this would contradict earlier claims that the Surface Pro 4 will be released on July 29 with the Windows 10.

Yibada reported that Intel's Skylake chipsets have an advantage over the Broadwell processors, which powers Apple's MacBooks. The Surface Pro 4 is also said to have 12 GB of RAM space, and is expected to come in at 128, 256, and 500 GB variants.

Display

The Surface Pro 4 is said to be released in two different sizes -- a 12-inch model and a variant bearing a 14-inch screen display, the news outlet noted.

Other Features

For its camera, the hybrid device is expected to be equipped with a 3.5 MP front camera and an 8 MP primary shooter, Yibada added. In addition, the gadget is said to be compatible with the Holo Lens VR device. Aside from these, Inquisitr claimed that the Surface Pro 4 will have a digital screen for pen input.

A Type-C USB port could also be included in the device, Yibada wrote.

Price & Release Date

Now that Microsoft is offering price cuts for the Surface Pro 3, it is likely that the Surface Pro 4's release is imminent. Christian Today reported that Surface Pro 3 devices with an i5 processor and above will be entitled to a discount. A Surface Pro 3 with an i5 processor, 128 GB storage, and 4 GB RAM space if eligible for a $100 discount, reducing its original price of $999 to $899.

Devices bearing specs above that level will get a $150 discount, Christian Today noted. These price drops is up until June 27.

As for the reason behind the price cuts for the Surface Pro 3, the news outlet wrote that Microsoft is probably selling their remaining stock to make room for the upcoming production of Surface Pro 4. The device is expected to have a starting price of $499, Youth Health Magazine claimed.
