‘Mockingjay Part 2’ Trailer, Cast & Release Date: 76th Hunger Games Happening? Jennifer Lawrence Wants Another Movie [Spoilers]

By Staff| May 22, 2015

November 2015 could mark both jubilation and mourning among hardcore "Hunger Games" fans. At this point, "Mockingjay Part 2" is expected to end the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' dystopian trilogy, and while the movie could mean the Capitol's downfall, fans will certainly miss the big-screen characters.

This is so like saying goodbye to Rue, or any other tribute you've rooted for.

Playing Katniss Everdeen, Jennifer Lawrence herself wants a fifth "Hunger Games" movie, Realty Today said. In an earlier dialogue for Interview Magazine, the actress expressed not being happy about the wrap, and that she wanted to do more.

But hope is stronger than fear. Previously, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer told analysts that he's "actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities," Deadline reported.

That being said, a prequel could mean any event that's happened before Katniss' POV -- the 74th Hunger Games -- took place.

As of press time, a number of fan-made short films have already addressed prequels, curated in our earlier article. These include perspective stories from victors Finnick Odair, Haymitch Abernathy and Johanna Mason, among others.

There's so much story to tell far from the straight plot that led to the Dark Days: President Snow's childhood; Alma Coin's rise to presidency in District 13; Mags' victory in her first Games; how tributes in the Career districts are trained and why Clove is just so good at throwing knives. You see, the list goes on.

Sequels will be much harder to predict, not only because "Mockingjay 2" isn't out yet, but because they're most likely stemming from film people already. Again, author Suzanne Collins has designed "The Hunger Games" as a trilogy, so anything that comes after it is virtually imagined by someone else -- unless she writes a fourth book, of course.

Looking at sequels, one interesting idea could be the thought of the 76th Hunger Games. Those who have read "Mockingjay" would know that the event is actually mentioned there, though it never really took place. And yes, Katniss Everdeen is in favor of it.

For one, the 76th Hunger Games has been proposed by Coin, a final act of revenge that aims to bring Capitol citizens in the arena -- and fight to the death. As Enobaria puts it, it shall give them "a taste of their own medicine."

Alternatively, a sequel may set its eyes on the future of Panem, depicting the stark contrast following President Snow's regime.

In the meantime, "Mockingjay Part 2" is said to focus on Katniss and President Snow's final showdown, the Venture Capital Post noted. The film's new poster and official synopsis may be seen here.

"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" casts Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland and Sam Claflin, among others. The film hits theaters on Nov. 20.
