The disappointment felt by prospects towards the Sony Xperia Z4 may just be a temporary thing. After all, the alleged Xperia Z5 could be the company's next ultimate flagship, with speculations pointing one clear message thus far: have patience and be excited -- the next big thing is coming.

Citing information from Android Origin, Christian Today wrote that Sony hopes to release the Xperia Z5 in Q4 2015. That being said, the earliest possible launch date may come sometime in October, though there are also rumors pegging the device's arrival in early 2016.

As it turns out, the handset's 2016 release could match the arrival of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 processor, Christian Today cited. Apparently, the chip is believed to power the new Sony smartphone, armed with abilities that result to better performance.

For those who haven't heard, Qualcomm announced Snapdragon 820 at the recent Mobile World Congress. As told by GSMArena, the chipset is built on a FinFET manufacturing process, though it isn't specified whether the hardware is using TSMC's 16 nm or Samsung's 14 nm technology.

GSMArena added that Qualcomm will begin sampling of the new processor in the second half of 2015. Considering this time frame, the outlet said, "This leaves us to anticipate the first devices rocking the chip early 2016."

It is also worth noting that the standard Xperia Z5 may not be alone in-the-making, since it's reportedly accompanied by the Xperia Z5 Ultra and the Xperia Z5 Compact. That leaves us with three expected handsets bearing the Z5 branding.

In particular, the Ecumenical News reported that the Xperia Z5 Ultra is said to ditch Sony's standard fingerprint scanning feature, utilizing Qualcomm's Ultrasonic Sense ID instead. The outlet added that the standard flagship is touted to pack a 2K screen, 4 GB of RAM and a "brand new camera sensor."

Sense ID is Sony's response to Apple's Touch ID, PCWorld said. According to the outlet, while the latter is known as the best fingerprint reader for mobile devices, it has trouble recognizing damp fingers. However, it can work even with light touch in any orientation.

Sense ID, on the other hand, is believed to work best when one's fingers are damp. Interestingly, it's said to be capable of detecting fingerprints through steel, aluminum, glass, sapphire and plastic -- giving manufacturers plenty of display options.

As previously reported, speculations have it that Sony is using a new design language for the Xperia Z5, such as the inclusion of a frosted glass effect, inspired by the company's own Bravia TV.

Changes in the logo's hardware location, more angular sides, 27 MP main camera, 6.1 MP front snapper, 32 GB starting storage, 4,500 mAh battery and micro SD support are all expected from the new smartphone.

The Xperia Z5 is expected to sell for $1,000, xperiaz5sony.com wrote.
