Samsung Galaxy A8 Launching in The US? The Latest Release Date, Specs & Features Details Here! [Rumors]

By Staff| May 09, 2015

Following the arrival of the all-metal Samsung Galaxy A7, speculations geared towards the Galaxy A8 have hit the web.

Thoughts on the alleged device may have spread as Samsung reportedly filed patents for the Galaxy A6, Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A9 recently, the Ecumenical News noted.

According to Christian Today, the three new devices are touted to come sporting full-metal build, as well as an improved TouchWiz UX.

The Galaxy A8, however, is said to arrive initially in China, the Master Herald wrote.

The Galaxy A8 is believed to pack a 5.7-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display, which runs a resolution of 1920 x 1090 pixels, the Ecumenical News said. Other purported specs include Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 chip, Adreno 405 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage and a 3,050 mAh battery.

Snapdragon 615 is reportedly composed of four ARM Cortex-A53 CPU cores clocked at 1.7 GHz and four more ARM Cortex A-53 cores clocked at 1.0 GHz.

The device is speculated to run Android 5.0.1 Lollipop on-board, Christian Today wrote. The outlet listed other purported specs such as micro SD support and LTE modem.

Citing information from SamMobile, Android Geeks noted that the Galaxy A8 will have a model number A800F.

In terms of camera, the Galaxy A8 is pegged to have a whopping 16 MP rear shooter, while its front snapper is expected to capture at 5 MP.

These camera specs may actually be seen as beasts for a mid-range phablet. However, it isn't certain whether Samsung will use the same sensor stuffed in the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, Android Geeks said.

Speculated to weigh 140 g, the Galaxy A8 allegedly measures 157.7 mm x 76.7 mm x 5.9 mm, the Ecumenical News cited. At this depth, the handset looks to be the thinnest smartphone Samsung has ever built to date.

Nevertheless, TechShout.com said the device won't be the thinnest option out in the market, as "its waistline doesn't even come close" to the 4.85 mm Vivo X5 Max.

Interestingly, the Master Herald said the Galaxy A8 has been rumored since December, but these specs and features, however, hit the web just recently. A specific release date has not been cited, but for an insight, the outlet wrote, "It looks like a fourth one is forthcoming with the planned roll out of the Samsung Galaxy A8 very soon."

As these details are all rumors, healthy pinches of salt go well with them.
