Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag News: Freedom Cry DLC Release Date Leaked

By Frank Lucci| Dec 04, 2013

The newest DLC for Assassin's creed 4: Black Flag has been given a release date.

According to a new ad found in the latest issue of Game Informer, the DLC, Freedom Cry, will be available starting on Dec. 17 on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It is unclear if the content will also appear on the PC and Wii U versions of the game. Ubisoft claims that the DLC will feature four-plus hours of additional content for the game, so users who have already beaten the game will have more adventures on the high seas to conquer.

Instead of focusing on the game's main protagonist, Edward Kenway, Freedom Cry will focus on Adewale. Adewale is the first mate on Kenway's ship. The character managed to escape a life of slavery through joining Edward on his quest for riches on the Jackdaw. The DLC will pick up 15 years after Adewale and Edward first met escaping from the British, and the pirate will have his own goals to deal with during the DLC. Nine new missions will be added to the game, and Adewale will have similar moves to Edward after being trained in the ways of the assassin order.

Freedom Cry will be part of the game's season pass, but it is unclear how much the DLC will cost. Another piece of DLC, Blackbeard's Wrath, was leaked when the PlayStation 4 listed the trophies for the DLC. However, BlackBeard's Wrath does not have an official release date as of yet.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag has been a big hit for developer Ubisoft, and the game has been a highlight of both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launch titles. The game features an epic story and a huge open world for players to explore. The game is able to create a beautiful virtual world that mirrors the beauty found in the actual Caribbean. Throw in a large amount of collectibles to find and engaging gameplay and the game is one of the best of the year, even before Freedom Cry and Blackbeard's Wrath expands the game further.

Look out for more Assassin's Creed 4 DLC news right here as the game receives the new content and players get the chance to play as Adewale.
