Microsoft has finally announced the release date of the much-awaited "Halo 5" game for XBox in an all new live-action television advertisement that aired during "The Walking Dead" Sunday night.

The commercial provided intriguing clues as to what fans can expect from the new game. According to IGN, the end part of the ad shows agent Locke as he walks through a city that has been destroyed, to a statue of Master Chief. Locke appears to be addressing the statue, but as he approached, the real Master Chief was shown with a massive hole in the left shoulder of his armor, sitting at the base of the statue. Locke blamed Chief for the destruction, saying that he who once was a savior has become the betrayer.

Locke draws his pistol and points it on Chief, ending the advertisement with a "Halo 5" logo screen and a release date pegged on October 27, 2015, which is only a few months away!

The trailer is part of Microsoft's viral marketing, Comic Book noted, hinting at the possibility of Master Chief becoming a traitor in the series.

Windows Central also reported that a new podcast clip was released on the "Hunt the Truth" site on Tumblr, where a fictional journalist "Benjamin Giraud" looking at the fictional backstory.

A second ad was also aired an hour later, with the same events, but with Master Chief's perspective, showing Chief walking towards a wounded Locke, and asking him if "it was all worth it." The commercial ends with Chief drawing his weapon on Locke. Watch it here.

Meanwhile, Beta News cited 343 Industries head, Bonnie Ross, who talked about the game. He said, "we wanted Halo 5: Guardians to be the game that pays off the epic promise of the Halo universe in scope and scale and drama. We want to amaze players with the sheer size of the worlds and battles they'll experience, even as they question everything they thought they knew about its heroes, marvels and mysteries. #HunttheTruth is only the beginning and we can't wait to debut the game to Xbox fans around the world at E3 this June".

"Halo 5: Guardians" will launch world wide on October 27 exclusively for Xbox One, and as noted by Beta News, timed perfectly for the Christmas Shopping season. Will you be getting the latest Halo installment?
