Eva Mendes Feels She Hasn't 'Earned the Right' to Give Motherhood Advice

Eva Mendes thinks she is not yet credible when it comes to giving out motherly advice.

"I don't feel like I've really earned the right," the actress, who welcomed her baby girl Esmeralda Amada in September with partner Ryan Gosling, said in the April issue of Women's Health. "I want to respect all the moms out there. They're going to be like, 'You know what? You're a few months in. Just shut up.'"

Mendes, 41, and Gosling, 34, started dating back in 2011 after filming their movie "A Place Beyond the Pines." Despite the struggles of being new parents, the actress told Women's Health that she enjoys being Esmeralda's mom.

"I'm actually enjoying the sleepless nights because it's bonding with my little girl," the actress gushed to the magazine.

Mendes previously said that she decided to not have any hired help during the first few months. According to a report from PEOPLE, the actress gets assistance from her family -- particularly her mother -- and a therapist.

"I've had the same girlfriends since I was 12, and I've made amazing girlfriends since," she explains, as quoted by PEOPLE. "My mom and my two older sisters have always been there telling me I could accomplish anything. We have each other's backs in the best way."

In a separate report from PEOPLE, the actress also revealed that she goes online to read about what other mothers exprience while nurturing their little ones. It somehow helps her get her through those sleepless nights taking care of Esmeralda.

"I go to BabyCenter.com and read the comment section from other mothers because I find so much solace in that," the brunette beauty revealed, as reported by PEOPLE. "Just knowing that I'm not alone out there and that other moms have gone through the same thing can at least get me through the night. I'm doing it without a nanny for now but I'm open to the idea of having a nanny in the future."

She added, "For me that part of being a mother at this early stage is the struggle of not being able to sleep and not knowing what I'm doing and really going through it with her and battling out those nights."

When asked about the inspiration behind their daughter's name, Mendes revealed that she and Gosling got it from their favorite character Esmeralda in the Victor Hugo novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," PEOPLE wrote. Amada, on the other hand, is the actress' grandmother's name which means 'beloved' in Spanish.

Just recently, Mendes revealed that her brother Juan Carlos has been diagnosed with cancer, Daily Mail reports. The movie star is reportedly "devastated" by the news and is doing everything in her power to help her brother.
