Microsoft Surface vs. iPad Air Features: Microsoft (MSFT) Releases 'Sharing With Family' Video Comparison vs. Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPad Tablet

Microsoft's latest advertisement for its second-generation Surface tablets continued to compare the gadget to Apple's latest iPad.

The new advertisement by Microsoft's Surface division, titled "Sharing with family: Surface 2 vs. iPad Air," immediately minimizes the iPad's features.

"Surface supports multiple user accounts, iPad doesn't," reads a statement in the one-minute video.

"Surface allows for multiple accounts on the same device," notes the narrator of the video. "Each person can have a unique sign in and customize backgrounds, apps, and more."

The narrator emphasizes a parent's ability to monitor their child's progress with the Surface tablet and protect them when visiting the Internet.

"The iPad doesn't allow for multiple accounts and does not have the ability to monitor usage," continues the narrator, in what will be the only vocal statement in the video about the Apple device.

Reviews on YouTube for the advertisement by Microsoft are mixed.

"Features like this are amazing, and I'm glad that you guys are finally fleshing them out, but the direct jabs at Apple will bring out a world of blind hate from Apple fans all over the Internet," wrote Sheldon Hardin. "I would have taken a more subtle approach. There is no reason this video should have less likes than dislikes other than from angry and hateful Apple fans."

"You didn't give a password to parents account, so your kid can open it and play what ever they want," commented Don't Trust Me. "Stupid ad!!"

"I kinda think the multiple users thing is great but in reality, I've never shared my iPad/tablet with anyone who actually needed an account all to themselves," shared Alex Gowers. "The same is true with my laptop, it has my account and that's it. I would highly discourage parents from letting their kid use a tablet to begin with it's not exactly a healthy pursuit for a young developing mind. Also apple does have restrictions for kids so half the ad is moot."

What do you think of the video?
