Adrian Peterson Trade News & Rumors: Leaving Minnesota Vikings for Dallas Cowboys?

By Nens Bolilan| Feb 24, 2015

The hot-button issue surrounding Adrian Peterson is whether he will continue to suit up for the Minnesota Vikings or sport a new one with the Dallas Cowboys, but a yes-or-no answer is nowhere to be found.

"What I'm hearing ... is that Adrian Peterson wants to go to Dallas, the Minnesota Vikings are aware of that; and, talking to a high-level NFL executive, everybody knows what everybody wants but the Vikings will not, do not want to trade him in any way, shape or form, specifically not to the Cowboys," NFL insider Jason Cole said in a Bleacher Report discussion.

He said further: "There's a lot here to play out, but the Vikings do not want to send him to the Cowboys... The Vikings have the power and authority in this situation, and as easy as it is to say that he's going to play for the Vikings, Peterson could make it uncomfortable for the Vikings and kind of create kind of a stare-down situation."

Career-long, noted the discussion, Peterson has produced 91 touchdowns, 1,715 receiving yards, 10,190 rushing yards and 2,054 carries.

He was also the MVP in 2012.

He reportedly felt abandoned by the Vikings in the legal issues he has run into, noted Sporting News. He was placed on the commissioner's exempt list last September so he could not play for the rest of the season.

He was suspended because of an injury-to-a-child case, for using a wooden switch to discipline his son, noted ESPN.

Another ESPN report said that the team has been pulling all the stops to keep him, but the 29-year-old was having a trust issue.

"There were people [in the organization] that I trusted, who knew exactly what was said, that weren't heard from [when the exempt-list issue was being decided] ... They weren't able to do anything about it," he said.

"It's hard to say [what my future will be]. I love Minnesota. There are people that have had my back, and supported me... For the fans, I would definitely love to come back, but then again, it's a business, when it comes down to business, you can't get caught up in the loyalty to fans or to a team or anything like that," he told ESPN.

"You know how it is in the NFL... I'm still uneasy, to be honest with you."

Peterson is scheduled to earn a $12.75-million base salary from the Vikings for 2015, but he could be back only in April, ESPN noted.

According to an NFL report, citing Peterson's father Nelson, a return is not out of the table yet.

"He hasn't closed the door on saying, 'I won't play for the Vikings.' He hasn't demanded a trade," he told Pioneer Press.

However, ESPN, in a separate report, found that Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, told Vikings officials that he wouldn't play again for the team.

CBS Sports revealed that the altercation happened during a combine in Indianapolis, and reportedly with Vikings vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski.

Peterson was counting on prayer as he thinks the situation out, ESPN said, quoting him as saying, "That's how I'll know."
