The nerds of CBS hit sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" may not be a big fan of DC's Aquaman, but even they would love it if Khal Drogo from HBO's "Game of Thrones" plays the part of the superhero. especially because Aquaman looks like the underwater version of the Dothraki leader.

"Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" director Jack Snyder released a photo of Jason Momoa as Aquaman on Twitter Friday, Feb. 20, as a teaser to the character's appearance on the 2016 film. The photo, the slogan "Unite the Seven" was written across Aquaman's image, depicting Momoa as a heavily tattooed, lightly armored, trident-wielding hero, captioned, "There is only one true King." It has been noted by Variety that in the comic books, Aquaman is the king of the seven seas, which explains the poster's slogan.

On the other hand, The Verge also suggested that besides being the ruler of the seven seas, "Unite the Seven" could also mean the seven members of the Justice League, as it has been reported that the upcoming "Batman v. Superman" film will be the platform to introduce the entire DC superhero squad to rival with Marvel's Avengers.

The Verge also noted that Zack Syder's grittier version of the fish-communicating superhero could be a step in the right direction, and the director certainly has faith in the character, to the point of defending Aquaman in a Dertroit radio show, saying "I don't want to give anything away about the movie or anything like that but Aquaman has some cool abilities. People are like, 'Oh what? Does he talk to animals? Cause that seems like what he does. Or fish?' The cool thing with Aquaman is his Trident. So you have to realize that could cut the flesh of Superman if they came in contact. That's a thing that's in the canon."

After his appearance on "Batman v. Superman" in 2016, Momoa will also be appearing in more prominent roles for "Justice League: Part One" in 2017, and a standalone "Aquaman" film in 2018.

DC will have to catch up with Marvel's lead on the superhero cinematic universe. According to Market Watch, the Aquaman sneak peek is an important step for DC.

Senior media analyst for Rentrak, Paul Degarabedian said, as quoted by Market Watch that, "Comic books might be the most competitive world in movies. Marvel has just set the bar so incredibly high. But I think the fans are hungry for DC."

He also added, "It's really important they [DC] succeed. But if nothing else, the competition between Marvel and DC can only be a benefit for the fans."

Jason Momoa will be appearing as Aquaman in 2016's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" alongside Ben Affleck as the caped crusader and Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman.
