Sherlock is an elusive being. He’s everywhere. While his character spawned from the mystery novel series, he’s since been seen in movies, cartoons and now television. But mystery buffs and fellow fans don’t seem to mind. No matter where his nonlinear storyline takes him, his followers are with him every step of the way, cheering him on as he takes on London’s greatest villains. Since his origin his cases have become more action oriented and less reliant on deductive reasoning, but that comes naturally as cultural interests shift. Still, his fans remain diligent. Their devotion and loyalty has pegged him as the greatest private investigator of all time, and now that his television avatar is planning his return to the third season of the series, well, “Sherlock.”

“Sherlock” Season 3 premieres on PBS Sunday, Jan. 19, and in preparation for the detective’s triumphant return, the network has released a brand new teaser trailer.

Executive producer Rebecca Eaton promises fans that Season 3 will be worth the longer than normal wait. “They’re fantastic,” she said. “They are jaw dropping. They are like small movie. Benedict [Cumberbatch] and Martin [Freeman] are so in their Sherlock-Watson groove. They are so comfortable with that relationship it’s like being in the room with them.”
