‘Frozen 2’ Release Date, Cast & Updates: Sequel Not Happening? The Truth Revealed!

By Staff| Feb 07, 2015

Sequels are just worth melting for.

News surrounding Disney's most-anticipated animated sequel have become viral once more, following a notice from Elsa's voice actress -- none other than Idina Menzel.

As it turns out, the singer admitted speaking "out of turn," when she confirmed late in 2014 that "Frozen 2" is underway.

At the time, when asked about rumors aimed at the sequel and stage musical, Idina told The Telegraph, "They're all in the works."

During the dialogue, the singer added that she has not signed up for the musical. She went on, "Not the stage show -- I don't know what will happen with that -- but the movie hopefully. We'll see. I'm just going along for the ride."

This time, the "Let It Go" vocalist spoke to clarify the echoing speculations. According to the Toronto Sun, Idina told The Times, "Apparently I spoke out of turn. I just assumed because it was so successful there'd be a sequel."

"I think they're working on [a stage show] but the Disney people keep things close to their chests," she added.

"Frozen" is acknowledged as the world's highest-grossing animated film of all time. Among all movies, the Disney film stands as fifth-highest grossing, next to "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2."

At present, the "Frozen" franchise has bolstered Disney's income, the Los Angeles Times reported. The company had a 19% increase in net income for its fiscal first quarter.

In relation to financial gains, Disney's consumer products division is specifically noted to bring significant traction. The unit is recorded to have a 46% increase in operating income; it's revenue soared to $1.379 billion. Apparently, the media company attributed the division's success to "Frozen"-related merchandise.

While Idina's retraction might sound depressing to Arendelle's most loyal followers, Disney has nevertheless prepared an upcoming "Frozen" sequel -- although it's bound to last for only seven minutes, the Independent wrote.

The source took note of the first pictures from "Frozen Fever," most of which appeared to showcase a much happier Elsa. The short hits theaters before the live Cinderella film in March.

Just recently, reports have claimed the possibility of "Hunger Games" heroine Jennifer Lawrence starring at the "Frozen" sequel, but no confirmation has been made at this point.

Are you sad about Idina's retraction? Do you like to see Jennifer Lawrence in "Frozen 2?"
