Reigning Miss Universe Paulina Vega has a lot of things scheduled in the coming months. The Colombian beauty is currently set for a trip to Indonesia, the first country she will visit since winning the crown.

In an interview with Fox News Latino, the 22-year-old business administration student opened up about her upcoming trips to various countries. According to Vega, things have been "crazy," and that she will return to Colombia, her home country, after three months.

"We are going to Indonesia, then Dubai and then my country. I'm very excited for these trips," Vega told the news outlet. "(I'm going to miss) the weather, my family, the food, my college. But that's about it because there are a lot of Colombians here in New York."

When asked how she would deal with being away from her family and her boyfriend for a long period of time, Vega said that she is thankful for various communication apps -- such as Skype and WhatsApp - which she can use to chat with her loved ones, Fox News Latino noted.

"They understand that I'm in a different period of my life, it's a new experience - in 10 months I can see them," the beauty queen further explained to Fox News Latino.

The newly crowned Miss Universe will also address prevalent issues in Colombia during her reign.

"There are two things that have always moved me," Vega told the Huffington Post. "One is education, because when someone is educated they have everything and they can accomplish anything, and second, malnutrition, the lack of food."

She continued, "It hurts me that some children and teenagers don't have three essential meals every day because if they don't have something to eat, then how can they go to school, or how can they do other things?"

The beauty queen also told the Huffington Post how proud she is of her country. According to Vega, Colombia is now "in a whole different point" and that the economy is "stable" and "secure."

"You can go to Colombia and nothing's going to happen to you," Vega added, as reported by Huffington Post. "You can call me and I can give [you] a tour and it's going to be fantastic."

Vega is the second beauty queen from Colombia to have won the Miss Universe title. In 1958, Luz Marina Zuluaga was crowned the first Colombian Miss Universe, the news outlet noted.
