‘Homefront 2: The Revolution’ PS4 Xbox One Release Date, Gameplay & Trailer: Guerrilla Warfare Shooter Coming Soon?

Do you have what it takes to lead a resistance?

This year, "Homefront: The Revolution" is expected to arrive for the PC, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, GamingBolt reported. While its launch date hasn't been specified by most gaming outlets, retailer GameStop already set a Dec. 31 release schedule for Microsoft's console.

Could it mark the game's official release? Or is it just another placeholder?

"Homefront: The Revolution" is the sequel to 2011's original title "Homefront." The open-world, first-person shooter chronicles the story of an oppressed America, held under the control of North Korean military force -- for four long years.

Set in Philadelphia, the game offers its players the opportunity to lead the resistance against occupation. The region has been described to become a ghetto, where brute military regime is all that seems to exercise power, the game's website described.

Fighting for freedom, however, might sound unjust even before it materializes. The enemy is noted to own the advantage of having "superior technology, firepower, heavy armour and air support," which only puts the insurgents well below them, it added.

So how does the revolution start square? Somewhere fair.

As it turns out, players will need to learn the art of guerrilla warfare -- including ambush, deception, infiltration and sabotage, the game's product description listed. These skills are necessary to wage battle and ultimately, reclaim America as home. Yes, expect a non-linear gaming experience!

Through the Guerrilla Tool Kit, players are able to craft their own improvised weapons. This is part of other activities done in giving birth to a revolution, which includes building bases and safehouses, customizing a deadly arsenal and recruiting civilians to join the movement.

"Homefront: The Revolution" boasts about its true, open world gameplay, as seen in the eyes of a first-person shooter. It is said to be equipped with CRYENGINE-powered visuals, described to bring life to a "breathing open world."

The game is developed by Deep Silver Dambuster Studios and Crytek UK, IGN noted. It is published by Deep Silver. As of press time, the outlet listed a retail price (MSRP) of $59.99.

For those planning to get its PC version, minimum system requirements are listed below (via TheNerdMag):

- 40GB Hard Disk space

- 6GB RAM

- AMD Phenom 8750 Triple-Core

- AMD Radeon HD 5870 1024MB
