Super Bowl XLIX 2015 Schedule, Katy Perry's Halftime Show & Idina Menzel's National Anthem - What to Expect

By Nens Bolilan| Jan 31, 2015

With the Super Bowl coming this weekend, the fanfare that will come with it is expected to be more extravagant than the football game itself.

To be held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona., Super Bowl 49 will surely bring some new flavor into this year's event that will kick off on Wednesday with concerts, games, fireworks and a 100-foot rock climbing wall, SB Nation reported.

The weekend, however, promises more serious events like press conferences of the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

On Sunday, the main event of the Super Bowl is expected to happen and the New York Post said that it will feature exciting numbers and activities, starting with the coin toss which traditionally jumpstarts the activity for luck.

Idina Menzel will then sing the national anthem which is anticipated by a lot of fans since she was a hit at the animated movie "Frozen."

Meanwhile, Rolling Stone reported that Katy Perry will highlight the halftime show performance together with Missy Elliot who will make a "surprise appearance." Perry even revealed that her performance would feature an "old school" female artist.

"When you hear the first ring of the chord. I think jaws will drop and faces will melt," she added as quoted by Rolling Stones.

SB Nation, however, discussed that most of the events will require a pass, and some come with a fee, so it would be a bit difficult to go and witness all of them.

"Other events like Saturday's autograph signing are free, however. The Glendale Chocolate Affaire also promises to be a good time, and also comes at a low, low price tag of zero dollars," the SB Nation report added.
