Verizon HTC One Update Release Date: Android 4.3 Jelly Bean in December, Android 4.4 KitKat Still on Track for January 2014

Verizon HTC One owners received the short end of the stick when they discovered that Big Red would take more than a month longer than competitive carriers to roll out Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. In response to a large number of inquiries, HTC USA has cleared up some of the murky details concerning the firmware upgrade and when it will arrive.

According to HTC USA, the Verizon rollout of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean is a two-step process culminating in an official rollout sometime in December.

Despite no exact dates, the information should come as some comfort to Verizon HTC One owners who were basically told to just sit and wait until now. Keep in mind that the Verizon HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will not include the latest version of Sense, Sense 5.5. Instead, HTC has confirmed that Sense 5.5 will be packaged alongside Android 4.4 KitKat when it releases by the end of January. Speaking on Android 4.4 KitKat, HTC USA also cleared up any concerns that Verizon HTC One users might have about KitKat also being delayed. It looks like they'll have nothing to worry about and should still expect to receive the upgrade by the end of January 2014.

HTC just might beat rival Samsung when it comes to upgrading its devices to KitKat, especially in the United States, where the manufacturer has made a concentrated effort at reassuring HTC users (even ones with carrier-tied variants) that software updates will be timelier than in the past.
