By Staff| Nov 25, 2014

The holidays are unstoppable, and so are game titles arriving on today's most popular consoles. Everybody likes free stuff -- especially when we're talking about games that come just a few button taps away.

According to The Gospel Herald, Microsoft usually gives two free titles for the Xbox 360: one at the dawn of the month while another follows on a later date. On the other hand, next-gen console Xbox One gets a single free title.

For December 2014, we'd expect some competition, thanks to Sony's PlayStation platform. Christian Today wrote that PS Plus members are likewise expectant of games for the holidays. Citing Sony's new "AAA" approach, the outlet said it basically puts pressure on Microsoft's titles. Product-Reviews noted that PS Plus members will see the arrival of "Injustice: Gods Among Us" Ultimate Edition and "Secret Ponchos" next month.

Now we wonder what Microsoft has to offer. In November Games with Gold, the Xbox 360 got served with "Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise" and "Red Faction: Guerrilla." The Xbox One had "Volgarr the Viking."

Game titles taking public interest for a December release via Xbox Live Gold include "Dead Rising 3" and "Ryse: Son of Rome," said The Gospel Herald. The source noted that speculations on the titles seem rampant -- but whether or not Microsoft pursues their free release may not be determined as of the moment.

Published by Capcom, "Dead Rising 3" is a horror-action game that takes on much character and weapon customization. According to IGN, the game is set a decade following predecessor "Dead Rising 2," where players vie for survival in a world breeding zombies. The story takes place in the city of Los Perdidos.

Released on Nov. 22, 2013, the game chronicles the life of protagonist Nick Ramos and his adventures to flee off the blood-seeking city.

The standard game is no longer available on the Xbox Store as it has been replaced by the "Dead Rising 3" Apocalypse Edition.

"Ryse: Son of Rome" is just like "Dead Rising" -- minus the horror brought by the undead. Published by Crytek, the game takes on the vibe of Ancient Rome and all its gladiatorial feats. It features a "brutally realistic war" that binds history and gaming excitement in one convenient, action-packed gameplay.

If rumors end up air whispers, the game may be purchased from several retailers here.
