Cleveland Cavalier point guard Kyrie Irving missed the team's Monday afternoon practice in Independence, Ohio, following their return from Brazil where they played against the Miami Heat.

Cavaliers coach David Blatt told Cleveland.com that Irving was able to move around not in team practice but in drills.

"He's coming along. We're not going to rush it, we're being careful because we want him back on his feet full strength. But he did take a step forward today, no question," Blatt added.

On Tuesday, Irving sprained his ankle when teammate Anderson Varejao accidentally stepped on his foot prior to their departure for Rio de Janeiro. He also missed their game against the Heat in Brazil.

Cleveland.com said that when Irving was seen wearing a boot in the said country, he was only doing it as a "precaution." The Cavaliers is still up against three teams for the preseason including the Milwaukee Bucks which they will be facing this coming Tuesday. Irving is expected to still miss the game.

"I personally don't want to see him step into a game before he's been on the practice floor in live play. If we have a chance to practice him 5-on-5 before we put him into an actual match, then we will. Hopefully that will take place at the end of the week," said Blatt.

Replacing Irving's spot on the team is Matthew Dellavedova, who according to Blatt, is given the chance to prove his strong offensive side. Dellavedova was able score three points, four assists and six rebounds during their game against the Miami Heat where he played for 33 minutes.

Aside from Irving, Fear the Sword said that LeBron James will also be sitting in one of the preseason games of the Cavs. He, however, stressed that his back is feeling better.

"I've been managing it pretty good. I feel pretty good right now and I want to continue that," he told Fear the Sword.

The Cavalier superstar also expressed confidence that the team will do fine even without Irving as he said that they are still in good shape.

"I think we are where we want to be. We still have some kinks we need to get out. Kyrie has been out the last couple of days and it has kind of set us back a little bit because he is our point guard and floor general, but Delly has stepped in and A.J. Price has played good while Ky has been out. I think we are on schedule," he told Cleveland.com.

Aside from news of Irving's injury, a lot of reports are also discussing the possibility that Ray Allen may delay his signing with the Cavs saying that other teams like the San Antonio Spurs and the Washington Wizards are also vying for him.

The Epoch Times said that Ray may need to consider his options first and choose the team best suited for his talent and experience.
