Apple fans have plenty to keep them occupied with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on the way to store shelves in a week. Not to mention that they have a shiny new Apple Watch to look forward to a few months after that.

However, even though the latest hardware has not yet hit the market, speculation has already begun on what is coming next.

If reports are to be believed, Apple will now shift its focus to its MacBook Air laptop, which is due for a big upgrade some time in mid-2015. Note that all of the following are strictly rumors until officially confirmed by Apple.

Tech reporters at A Tech Website report that Apple will launch a 12-inch MacBook Air with a Retina Display next year. The website sources someone, "familiar with Apple's plans."

The Retina Display is rapidly becoming a standard for all Apple products. The iPhone, iPad, iPad mini and MacBook Pro all make use of the sharp display, so it would make sense for the feature to make its way to the Air as well. Reports go on to say that the Air will support the fan-less design of the latest iteration of the MacBook Pro as well.

Additionally, Apple also reportedly intends to bring new customizable options to the Air was well. The site lists that the computer will come in the colors slate gray, silver and gold (the same colors that the iPhone 6 will be available in when in launches on Sept. 19).

These rumors are certainly in line with the familiar practices of the reputable tech company. Apple is brining its theories of customization to meet the needs of the consumer, and take their tech experience to the next level with its recently announced Apple Watch. The new Watch is not only available in two different sizes, but also comes in a variety of bands to suit many tastes. Perhaps the MacBook line is the next step.

The MacBook Air is currently available and priced at 11-inches for $899 and13-inches for $999.

These rumors are coming on the heels of reports that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus sold out online just hours after they were made available for preorder on Friday morning. Apple customers who ordered their new phone online are expected to have to wait as long as four weeks for their orders to ship.
