Glee creator Ryan Murphy announced on Wednesday that Glee's cast won't be serenading us for another season. Season 6 will be the show's last, Murphy told the media on the sidelines of a press event for FX Networks at Paley Center in Los Angeles.

Murphy revealed that he had Season 6 all planned out but after Cory's passing, he had to rethink his end game for the series. The last season was supposed to revolve around the Finn/Rachel story, according to a TV Line report.

"I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was - he was in it. I knew what the last line was - she said it to him.

"So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we're figuring that out now," Murphy was quoted saying in the report.

Murphy added that he plans to tell Paramount Studios and Fox Network in a week on how they can give the show a satisfying ending, with emphasis on honoring the memory of Cory.

Cory Monteith, who plays Finn Hudson on the show, died from a drug cocktail overdose on July 31 at the Fairmont Pacific hotel in Vancouver, according to an ABC report. Prior to the shocking news of his death, Monteith said that he had struggled with drug addiction since he was 13 in an interview with Parade magazine.

He had checked himself into rehab at 19 to address his substance abuse problems.

"I'm lucky on so many counts-I'm lucky to be alive," Monteith told Parade as be recounted his troubled past.

"I was done fighting myself. I finally said, 'I'm gonna start looking at my life and figure out why I'm doing this.'" he recalls of the moment he decided to straighten himself out.

Last week, Glee aired its tribute episode to Cory. Titled The Quarterback, the episode gathered the Glee cast-old and new New Directions members-to mourn the sudden death of their friend and beloved football hero, Finn Hudson.

Rachel Berry (Lea Michelle), Finn's girlfriend, sang a heartbreaking rendition of Bob Dylan's "Make You Feel My Love" for the final act. She brought a plaque to the group's rehearsal room, featuring a photo of Finn and his one-liner: "The show must go... all over the place... or something."

Lea Michelle and Monteith started dating in 2012.

Fox ordered a fifth and sixth season for Glee in April, according to Hollywood Reporter. News on whether the sixth season would be the show's last had not been confirmed then.
