"Resident Evil Revelations 2" is set to be launched early 2015, announced Capcom producer, Masachika Kawata, who gave the news during a Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia press conference.

Kawata shared that the same Resident Evil team, who worked on the previous game, is working on the new entry, Polygon noted. The game will no longer feature Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield as protagonists, the tech site added, and will take place in a new setting.

The same announcement was made over Capcom's official Twitter account saying: "Resident Evil Revelations 2 announced for early 2015."

Capcom also shared the "Resident Evil Revelations 2" Concept Teaser (found below) that carried the tag line: "Evil is watching." The two-minute long clip shows a young girl in a crowd of healthy people, all wearing green wristbands while zombies have been tagged differently, wearing red bands.

"This concept teaser trailer portrays the essence of Resident Evil Revelations 2. Hidden secrets beckon to be discovered by anyone with eyes and wits sharp enough to find them," said the trailer's caption.

The news comes at the heels of last week's leak by XBox.com that showed "art and a screenshot of the game," Polygon noted.

Capcom has also confirmed through its website that the game will be made available in various consoles including PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

Shacknews have positive reviews to the predecessor game and recalled, "Resident Evil Revelations originally debuted on Nintendo 3DS in early 2012 and it was generally well-received by critics and fans alike for veering closer to RE's survival horror roots."

"The story was meant to fill the gap between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, with this sequel likely expected to serve a similar function. The game proved popular enough to warrant a number of digital ports for PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U," continued the site.

The "Resident Evil Revelations" was a hit for Capcom with the company reporting as of February having generated 1.1 million in sales of the game in both console and PC versions.

Plot details along with an exact release date have yet to be revealed. According to Capcom, there will be more information to be shared during the upcoming Tokyo Game Show within the month and a playable demo will also be showcased.

Additionally, Capcom is also working on an HD Remaster of the GameCube's Resident Evil 1 remake, said Eurogamer.
