Columbus Day is here. Though many people are looking forward to spending this day in relax mode, there are other people trying to make plans and wondering, "Are banks open on Columbus Day?" According to The New York Times, the banks have the option to close on Monday, October 14.

Columbus Day is a public holiday in many parts of the United States, however, some states do not observe or do not consider it as a holiday. Generally, government offices as well as schools are closed but some business may open. Banks are usually closed on this holiday.

Even though most banks will be closed, banking transactions with the modern technology we have today can be completed online, through a mobile device or at the ATM. The best thing to do if you have any questions regarding branch hours as well as operations on Columbus Day would be to contact your bank.
