Lenovo is reportedly working on a new laptop that will beat the upcoming MacBook Pro 2013.

According to Chinese website Yesky, Lenovo is bound to offer a super thin 13-inch ultrabook with hi-res display dubbed as ThinkPad 9 Slim. A prototype was also spotted in the website.

Based on the name, ThinkPad 9 Slim is expected to be so thin that it is almost half the size of the MacBook Air. The laptop weighs less than a kilo because of its carbon fiber body. MacBook Pro 2013 with Retina display, on the other hand, weighs 1.62 kg.

Despite its very slim body, Lenovo's new laptop packs 3200 x 1800 pixel resolution in its 13-inch screen display compared to MacBook Pro's 2560 x 1600 screen resolution.

Release date details are still undisclosed and Lenovo is mum on the details of the laptop.

Meanwhile, Slash Gear stated that the MacBook Pro 2013 will come with Sharp's IGZO screen technology to improve its current Retina display.

Sharp's IGZO displays boast of a 3840 × 2160 pixel resolution, which is just a few hundred pixels short of being a 4K screen resolution. it also includes power-saving features, which is a great advantage for users. The IGZO transistors can change state faster and do not need as much power unlike the traditional LCD display.

However, the report added that Sharp's 4K2K IGZO panels may not be ready by this year and will enter mass production in February 2014.

MacBook Pro 2013 is expected to feature Intel's newest Haswell processor, improved GPU, faster wi-fi, longer battery life, and a faster and larger storage capacity. These specs are based on the features of the newly released MacBook Air and iMac. MacBook Pro 2013 will also pack the new Apple OS X Mavericks that was unveiled last June.
