The NBA will officially release its 2014-15 season schedule today. Anticipation is running high after a busy summer in free agency has shifted rosters and created new exciting matchups that fans can't wait to see.

And of course, all eyes are on the Cleveland Cavaliers afer they landed maybe the biggest free agent ever: Lebron James. James is one of the only perennial MVPs in NBA history to switch teams in the middle of his prime years, and many are curious to see just how good he can make a dilapidated Cavaliers squad next season. And you can bet the NBA will make sure Lebron and the Cavs get the maximum amount of TV exposure possible.

Speaking of next season, the season schedule will be announced this afternoon on NBA TV during its televised NBA 2014-15 Schedule Release Special, which begins at 6 p.m. ET. The show will focus on some of the upcoming season's biggest matchups, like the opening night schedule, Christmas Day matchups and the Martin Luther King Day lineup.

The 2014-15 schedule will also be posted in its entirety on NBA.com, so be sure to check out their homepage if you can't watch the telecast. The show will be hosted by Rick Kamla, and will also feature coverage by Brent Barry. Hooray, Brent Barry!

MATCHUPS

Cavs v. Heat - Of course all eyes are on Cleveland and Miami and wanting to know when the first matchup between James and his former teammates will be. Expect a Christmas Day matchup between these two clubs to be their first of the season.

Lakers v. Bulls - With Gasol turning down the Lakers to run with the Bulls you can bet Kobe is itching to prove the Spaniard made a huge mistake. Expect a Christmas Day showdown between these two.

Spurs v. Cavs - Rematch of the 2007 NBA Finals? Sure. With James back, and the Spurs still the best team out West, what could be better than seeing the league's two most interesting teams battle it out on opening night? Rumor has it this is already a done deal.

Lakers v. Rockets - Hey, remember when Dwight Howard was on the Lakers? That didn't go so well, right? Well Kobe is back, and look for him to take out some of his frustrations for missing most of last year out on Dwight and James Harden when the Rockets come to LA on opening night.

Well that's all for now. Be sure to check out the NBA TV telecast tonight or visit NBA.com for more info on the upcoming season and all the great matchups.
