If the release of Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson's trailer for "Fifty Shades of Grey" is any indication, the audience pull of the Belfast-born actor is at its peak, making him a great cast option for many new projects.

It has recently been announced that Dornan has selected his post-Fifty Shades role and it's one that's close to home. The 32-year-old actor will star in "The Siege of Jadotville."

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

"The film recounts the 1961 siege of 150 Irish U.N. troops in the Congo, now known as the Democratic Republic of Congo, after pro-Western warlord Moise Tshombe took control of the Katanga region, killing the democratically elected Congolese Prime Minister Patrice Lamumba. Belfast-born Dornan will play Commandant Pat Quinlan, the Irishman who led the U.N. battalion against a force of 3,000 local troops fighting alongside French and Belgian mercenaries."

"I can't wait to get stuck into Jadotville," said Dornan in a statement. "It's an unbelievable story and Commandant Pat Quinlan is going to be a treat of a character to tackle. I'm a big fan of both Richie Smyth and [producer] Alan Moloney and I'm very much looking forward to working with them both."

"The Siege of Jadotville" is to be led by Richie Smyth, a first-time silver screen director. He's known for his commercial and music video projects. Aside from that, a remarkable highlight of his career was when he was awarded several times for his work centering on the child abuse situation in Ireland, THR added.

"The Siege of Jadotville" screenplay is written by Kevin Brodbin and the movie will reportedly begin production in 2015, and will be shot in Ireland and South Africa.

"I'm really excited to be working with Jamie on The Siege of Jadotville," commented Smyth in the statement. "I thought his performance in The Fall was sublime. He is perfectly cast in the lead role as Commandant Quinlan and has been instrumental in bringing this epic story to life."

Dornan's career skyrocketed last year when he was cast to play the role of business magnate, Christian Grey, who has a penchant for S&M. He replaced actor, Charlie Hunnam, and stars alongside Dakota Johnson who will portray Anastasia Steele. The movie adaptation of E.L. James' erotic series is due out February 2015.

"The Siege of Jadotville," may not be the only project the actor will focus on in the following months. It was only last week when Page Six reported that "the actor cut short his vacation in Italy last week to meet Harvey Weinstein and John Wells about their untitled chef project." The new project, the report added, may also star Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Uma Thurman, Emma Thompson and Omar Sy.
