ABC's "The View" has always been a forward-thinking -- and speaking -- talk show that addresses a number of hot-button issues. While the co-hosts have included Caucasians, African and Asian Americans, there has never been a Hispanic co-host. Fortunately, Barbra Walters, the show's creator and producer, is looking to change that.

As the search forges on for new co-hosts, the pool has been narrowed to Laura Sanchez of FOX's "Good Morning LA," and Sunny Hostin, a former district attorney who has worked with FOX and CNN.

The 'Latina spot' on the view has been long over due for some years. Walters said that Sanchez came close to getting the job back in 2000, but lost out to Lisa Ling instead.

With Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepard leaving "The View" last month, Rosie O'Donnell has agreed to come back to the show after leaving in 2007. One spot remains open and rumor has it, the show is looking for a conservative Latina to spice up the mix.

"Lauren represents the conservative Latina that they really want," a source told Radar Online. "Execs want to see what Lauren can do with other strong personalities on the panel."

There is no doubt that Whoopi Goldberg and Rosie O'Donnell represent the strong personalities that will be going up against Sanchez, should she get the gig.

Though Sunny Hostin is still in the running for the position, a source said that CNN is being difficult when it comes to releasing Hostin from her contract. Hostin offers legal analysis on the networks morning show, and is an anchor for ABC News.

"The View" has taken a big step toward becoming an all-inclusive show. Whether the final selection is Sanchez or Hostin, the show will be able to attract a wider audience while pushing Latino issues to the forefront.
