In the new Cameron Diaz and Jason Segel movie, a married couple tries to bring the passion they once shared for each other back into their lives by making a video. But it's not your typical family video that they end up making, it's the kind that gives the movie its title: "Sex Tape." The movie explores how our personal devices, which store images and data in a cloud, can be a real hazard when something secret gets out into the public.

And as with all movies, you can't believe everything you see. As the couple tries to get their video out of the cloud, there's a few things the movie gets wrong about cloud computing which is more available thanks to iPhones and iPads, the other stars of the movie.

The movie itself has gotten panned by several reviewers, but some like it. A review in New York Magazine calls the move an "old-fashioned farce for the iPad generation." The review brings attention to Cuban-American actress Cameron Diaz's performance.  "Diaz and Segel get a good tag-team rhythm going. Attempting to recover the iPads they've passed on to friends and acquaintances, they dither, blurt out stupid things, and then freeze, amazed at their own ineptitude. Diaz pulls a lot of faces, but I find the combination of that clown mouth and Barbie body hard to resist. She's a natural dizzy dame," the reviewer writes.

A review in USAToday.com called the movie a waste of time. "Viewers seeking a fresh comedy, a seductive romp, or even just an escape from boredom for a couple hours will be left dismally unsatisfied by this stilted, nearly humorless, non-titillating slog," the review said.

Whether or not the comedy works for viewers, there are some things the movie gets wrong about cloud computing according to Consumer Reports magazine. "If you buy an iPad for another person, that doesn't mean all your pictures, videos, and other personal content sync automatically to that iPad," according to Consumer Reports.

"The recipient of your gift would need to sign in with your Apple ID and have iCloud's My Photo Stream feature turned on for her to see your personal content," the magazine continued. "Another way to share your photos and videos would be through a shared photo stream, but you'd have to intentionally invite people to view your stream, and manually choose which photos and videos you would like to share. In a nutshell, you pretty much have to want your content to be shared before it would happen."

While "Sex Tape" is a movie laced with blackmail and family fun, it shouldn't worry electronics consumers from using their devices that work with the cloud.
