CBS' recently concluded "How I Met Your Mother" earlier this year and with such a successful series, talk of a version from a female perspective quickly followed in the form of "How I met Your Dad." However, even with all the buzz, it was recently announced that the network didn't pick up the new series.

While many would-be fans may be disappointed, this is not the end of the road. E! Online writes that according to network's boss Nina Tassler, while it's a no for now, there is still a chance in the future.

Tassler says that they are still looking forward to future partnerships with the show's creators Craig Thomas, Carter Bays and executive producer Emily Spivey. "We'd love the opportunity to take another shot," Tassler said.

MSN notes that they got the vibe that it was a casting issue. "Some things about this worked, some things didn't," she said. "As I said many, many times 'Big Bang' would not be 'Big Bang' without having redone that pilot."

She went on to describe widely successful series "Big Bang Theory" and the importance of Kaley Cuoco being the actress during the show's second pilot.

"I think at this point you make the best decisions you can, relative to casting," explained the head, as per E! Online. "There's a lot going on during pilot season and some things about this "How I Met Your Dad" worked and some things didn't."

Even as a spinoff, there was no solid connection between "Dad" and "Mother" aside from the method of storytelling. The new series was set to follow Sally's life and how she met her husband. The present time Sally is in a period of transition as she lives in the Big Apple with friends and is in the process of divorcing her next husband.

The initial casting for the series included Greta Gerwig with Meg Ryan providing the narration.

"How I Met Your Mother" revolved around the character of Ted Mosby as his present self narrated to his kids the story of how he met their mother. The show ran for 9 seasons but ended March of 2014 with a highly controversial finale that left many fans underwhelmed. The original series had a mainstay cast of five which included Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Alyson Hannigan, and Cobie Smulders.

Well, it's back to the drawing board for the showrunners and hopefully, they'll be able to wow the network next time around.
