U.S. women's soccer team veteran, Hope Solo, has broken her silence about being arrested for allegedly assaulting her sister and 17-year-old nephew, apologizing to fans, her team and coaches on Facebook.

Solo, a two time Olympic gold medalist, was released on Monday after pleading "not guilty" to two counts of forth degree domestic violence assault.

On Thursday, Solo took to the social media airwaves, posting a note of apology on her Facebook page.

"I would like to apologize to my fans, teammates, coaches, marketing partners and the entire US Soccer and Seattle Reign FC communities for my involvement in a highly unfortunate incident this past weekend," said Solo.

A statement released by the Seattle Police Department states that officers responded to a 911 call last Saturday night alleging that a woman was "hitting everyone" and would not stop.

When officers arrived on the scene they heard a commotion inside the house and entered the premises. Authorities found Solo, 32, who appeared to be "intoxicated and upset," according to the statement.

Officers interviewed witnesses and determined that Solo was the likely aggressor in the altercation. Soto's sister and nephew also had visible injuries.

Solo maintains her innocence in the ongoing investigation. She cites that she was the victim of assault and was injured in the incident.

Solo says she holds no animosity against her family, stating, "I love my family dearly. We, like all families, have our challenges but my sincere hope is that we are able to resolve this situation as a family. Adversity has always made us stronger and I know this situation will be no different."

It is likely that sponsors will wait until the trial's verdict before deciding on any changes with Solo's campaigns. The trial is slated to begin on Aug. 11.

"I understand that, as a public figure, I am held to a higher standard of conduct," Solo said.

"I take seriously my responsibilities as a role model and sincerely apologize to everyone I have disappointed."
