On Friday, France and Switzerland will battle for the top spot in Group E. Both clubs easily won their opening matches setting them up for a great position to advance to the knockout round. France looked forceful against Honduras winning 3-0 and completely dominating ball possession. Switzerland won by a lesser margin against Ecuador but now have a chance to take down their biggest threat.

For the French team the World Cup has seemed to be a feast or famine tournament. The French have either made it to the World Cup Final or not won a single game in their tournament history. With their opening win, history tells us that French will make it to the final match. The French are one of the more healthy teams in the competition having no injury reports or suspensions. Their 3-0 victory was free flowing and came from a variety of offensive sources.

In the past three meeting between the two teams only two goals have been scored and each match ended in a draw. France and Switzerland will look to exploit each other's weaknesses by focusing on offensive as well as counter attacks. If there's one thing that both teams rely heavy on it's their defense. The winner of the match will likely take advantage of the 50/50 plays in which hustle and heart are the essential ingredients.

The Swiss team showed a great deal of heart against Ecuador. There were numerous times throughout the match where the offense looked stagnant and lacked momentum. Seferovic was able to breakaway from the Ecuadorian back line and drill a last second shot to break Ecuador's draw bid. Although it wasn't pretty the Swiss team is exuding confidence over their dedication and discipline that proved to be key in the closing moments of their opening match.

France and Switzerland ride into Friday's game on different levels of optimism. The Swiss learned that they can play poorly but still sneak away with a win. The French learned that their raw force can penetrate defenses leading to a one sided shooting match.

The match will air on ESPN at 12 p.m. on Friday. France and Switzerland will play in Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador. The game can also be streamed online at https://espn.go.com/watchespn/index.
