After ramming into a wall at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) on Tuesday, three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, Tony Stewart, survived the accident unscathed.

According to a report on Nascar.com, the incident happened during a Goodyear tire test at IMS. Although members of the media were not allowed to cover part of the test wherein the accident occurred, WISH-TV was able to confirm that Stewart didn't need additional help from paramedics after NASCAR Medical personnels checked on him, added Nascar.com. Ryan Newman, Greg Biffle, Clint Bowyer, Joey Logano and Kyle Busch were also at the IMS for the tire test, wrote Motorsport.

Just last year, the champion racer suffered a broken leg during a sprint car race in Iowa, Fox Sports reported.

Stewart is noted for his philantropic work, forming a charitable foundation in 2003 -- the Tony Stewart Foundation. It raises funds for chronically ill children, drivers injured in motorsports activities and organizations dedicated to the protection of various animal species.

According to his website, Stewart was named "Most Caring Athlete" by USA Weekend "NASCAR's 'Good Guy'" by The Sporting News in 2004. He also received the NASCAR USG Person of the Year award. NASCAR Illustrated declared Stewart its Person of the Year in 2008 as he raised more than $4 million for charity.

However, he also has a boiling point.

He recently figured in a confrontation with 21-year-old Kyle Larson, with a USA Today report saying Stewart angrily pointed a finger at Larson after their Chevrolets collided during a restart at Michigan International Speedway.

"That's Tony being Tony," Larson said of his first in-race scolding. "I was pretty tight on whoever was inside of me on the restart, and I was looking in my mirror and saw him juke to the right, so I juked to the right and he hit me... He was just trying to teach me a lesson, I'm guessing."

This year's edition of the Sprint Cup Series begins Sunday, July 27.
