Turns out you could have figured out some important details of the upcoming Assassin's Creed Unity if you had been paying close attention to 2010's Brotherhood.

Ubisoft said that Assassin's Creed Brotherhood revealed small clues about the 2014 title that has yet to be released. Writer Jeffrey Yohalem reveals that "the symbols pointed to American Revolution and French Revolution" on Twitter.

He's talking about the ending sequence, where mysterious symbols are shown. The Phrygian Cap, which is a symbol of the French Revolution, and the Eye of Providence are the most easy to see, according to EuroGamer.

Yohalem was the lead writer on Brotherhood, and Unity has been in development for more than three years.

So far only a few details have been released to the public.

Ubisoft released a trailer that starts off with a public execution and the assassin watching from a rooftop.

The description says, "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche [Let them eat cake]! We have been working on the new Assassin's Creed for more than three years and although we weren't quite ready to show you our full vision for a next-gen only AC, it seems Abstergo are trying to force our hand! So here's a true first look at in-game footage from Assassin's Creed Unity. Stay tuned - we'll have many more exciting details for you in the months ahead!"

The game will be released in December, and the Assassin will be wearing a black hood. Unity will work on the Xbox One and PS4, and there are rumors of a second game that will work on older models.
