Pau Gasol will spend the remainder of the season in Los Angeles, but this season could be his last with the Lakers as he is set to become a free agent this summer.

Gasol, who was a subject of numerous trade rumors before the trade deadline last month, will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason, and the center is expected to draw the interest of several teams looking for veteran presence.

Previous rumors indicated that Gasol will likely sign elsewhere this summer, but the 33-year-old center said in a recent blog post that he is still open to resigning with the Lakers.

"I'm not ruling out renewing my contract, I'm just open to every option," Gasol said, according to Hoops Hype.

The Lakers still have the best chance of signing Gasol in the offseason since they can offer more money to the All-Star center compared to other teams, but said the Lakers' ability to offer a bigger contract will not be a big factor.

"I'm a free agent with no restrictions. That means I can go wherever I want. The Lakers don't have any bargaining rights. My franchise has the chance of offering me more money and a longer contract, but that's not all that's going to matter as far as my decision," Gasol said.

The two-time champion center insisted that winning another title is his top priority. He is already at the point of his career in which he is not looking to earn a big paycheck anymore, he said. Gasol reiterated that his decision this summer will be purely based on what is best for his career, not financial factors.

"My decision will be based purely on sporting considerations," said Gasol. "It couldn't be any other way. I want to be in a team with a real chance of winning a ring and where I can help to compete for it. I would like to win another championship. The financial side comes second at this stage of my career."

Gasol, who is averaging 17.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per game this season, recently voiced his frustration with the team's lack of discipline.

The Lakers have a 20-39 record this season and are on the verge of missing the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-05 NBA season.
