Konami has revealed that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes has already received a price cut on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 before being released and that users who buy the prologue to Metal gear Solid 5 will get free DLC for the main portion of the game.

Previously, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game were set to be sold for $40 as physical games and $30 as digital downloads. But now Gamespot is reporting that Konami has dropped the price of the physical version of the game down to $30 to match the price of the digital copy of the game. The prices of the physical and digital versions of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Ground Zeroes remain unaffected by the move.

This is definitely a smart move by Konami. The price cut allows users to by the single prologue chapter of Metal Gear Solid 5 that will be available in Ground Zeroes for a much more reasonable price. Considering that the game will be much smaller in scope than the rest of Metal gear Solid 5, it is a bit much for the company to ask fans to pay almost the same amount for a full game for such little content.

Konami also announced that users who buy Ground Zeroes will receive a code that will give them exclusive DLC for Metal Gear Solid 5: the Phantom Pain. The DLC will add additional items for the Mother Base feature found in The Phantom Pain. In addition, the player choices made in Ground Zeroes will carry over into The Phantom Pain. Hostages and VIPs that players rescue in Ground Zeroes will appear in the Mother Base as staff members. Character skins unlocked in Ground Zeroes will also carry over into the main portion of Metal Gear Solid 5 as well.

Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes will be launched on March 18, but Konami has yet to give The Phantom Pain a release date. However, series creator Hideo Kojima has warned gamers that it may be some time until the game is ready for release, and fans may have to wait until 2015 to get their hands on the game. Both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain serve as prequels to the events of Metal Gear Solid 1 and follow the story of Big Boss.
