The LG G Pro 2, the follow up to the original G Pro, has premiered in Korea, the home country of LG, the company announced on its official website. And Samsung could be preparing to roll out the smartphone to other countries in the near future.

The LG G Pro 2 represents a new future for the company. The G Pro 2 offers ultra high definition 4K video, which can be played on ultra high definition television sets, and can record 120 fps HD video on the 13-MP rear camera and the 2.1-MP front-facing camera.

LG has also improved the overall sound system for the device, with 1W Hi-Fi sound claiming to be 30 percent louder than the original G Pro. In addition, LG is implementing the new Knock Code for unlocking the smartphone. Knock Code works by allowing users to unlock the phone by tapping on the screen in different combinations. LG says that there are 86,367 combinations for the Knock Code, meaning users will have plenty of options to choose from for securing their phones. Knock Codes can range from quick two input combinations to eight tap combinations.

"Knock Code is an example of LG bringing simpler, more convenient solutions to consumers' mobile lives," president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company Dr. Jong-seok Park said in a statement on LG's website. "Whereas in the early years of smartphones it was a contest to see how many features could be stuffed into the phones, our researchers took a long, hard look at how consumers were really using their devices in their daily lives and included just the most useful UX features. We think customers will agree."

Other specs for the LG G Pro 2 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.26GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU, and 3GB of DDR3 RAM. The screen is 5.9 inches and HD capable, and the headset is 3.3mm thick. The operating system for the device is Android 4.4 Kitkat, and users can choose between 16 or 32GB of internal memory.

With these features the LG G Pro 2 should be one of the top smartphones available to customers in the United States whenever it is released outside of Korea.
