NBA Trade Rumors 2014: Boston Celtics Could Deal Kris Humphries to Miami Heat

Boston Celtics power forward Kris Humphries has been playing pretty well with limited minutes, and with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season, a number of teams have emerged as ideal destinations for the 6-foot-10 bruiser—one of them being NBA champions the Miami Heat.

Humphries, one of several players traded by the Brooklyn Nets to the Celtics in last summer's blockbuster deal, is averaging 7.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 block per game, but he's playing solid these past two months.

According to Digital Journal writer Larry Seely, the 29-year-old Humphries could be one of handful of players the Celtics could sell before the Feb. 20 trade deadline. And with his $12 million expiring deal set to be off the books at the end of the season, the Celtics can certainly trade a player of his caliber.

"Boston Celtics General Manager Danny Ainge is in a selling mood as he looks to lower the teams salary cap before this summer, hoping to land a big name free agent and get his team back as a contender in the Eastern Conference," reported Digital Journal.

Humphries To Heat?

Humphries, who averaged double-doubles twice in his career, could be a nice acquisition for the two-time defending NBA champion. The Heat are still an elite team, but the emergence of the Indiana Pacers as a real threat to their throne has forced the team's front office to look for help on the trading block.

"Miami has the 'Big Three,' but the Indiana pacers have shown the NBA and especially the Heat that they are for real. The Pacers just signed Andrew Bynum, making their roster deeper in talent and sending the league a message, this team is here to win a championship," Digital Journal reported.

Bleacher Report NBA insider Michael Pena believes the Heat could use veteran power forward Udonis Haslem as a trade chip for Humphries. Haslem has been struggling this season, but the Heat could make the package interesting by adding a future draft pick (likely a second-round pick).

"Udonis Haslem has played poorly this year and in part, one of the main reasons for the Heat looking up at Indiana, but a deal before the Feb. 20 deadline, could land the Heat a force in the paint, another player with plenty of experience, and the depth needed to win another title," Pena stated.
