The Dallas Mavericks and the Charlotte Bobcats are reportedly interested in acquiring Philadelphia 76ers swingman Evan Turner before the trade deadline, a source close to situation reported on Thursday.

The Mavs and Bobcats, both playoff-chasing teams, are in search of another All-Star caliber player that would add firepower to their rosters as the season hits its second half.

According to Hoops Rumors, the Mavericks could possibly use Shawn Marion as trade bait for the do-it-all swingman while the Bobcats can offer one of possibly three first-round picks this upcoming draft and the expiring contract of Ben Gordon.

"The chatter around the league is that the Mavericks will explore a deal for Turner, tweets Sam Amico of FOX Sports Ohio. The name of Shawn Marion, who is sidelined due to injury, has also been mentioned," reported Hoops Rumors.

"The Bobcats have looked into acquiring 76ers forward Evan Turner, an NBA source tells Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer. The 76ers are reportedly pushing to move Turner before the deadline and are looking for draft compensation in a deal. However, Bonnell cautions that nothing appears to be imminent between them and the Bobcats."

Bobcats Trade Scenario

Several analysts believe the Bobcats can provide the most enticing offer for the rebuilding Sixers, who are very much willing to collect future draft picks. Moreover, the 'Cats appear to be a perfect fit for Turner, a player capable of giving the team a much needed scoring punch at the wing position.

"The 6-foot-7 forward, who is averaging 18.1 points and 6.0 RPG this season, could potentially add the scoring punch the Bobcats need to reach the playoffs for only the second time in club history. However, it's not clear what Charlotte would give up to get the former No. 2 overall pick since he'll be a restricted free agent at the end of the season," Hoops Rumors reprted.

Trade rumors surrounding Turner came alive this week following reports that the Sixers are interested in moving Turner before the Feb. 20 deadline. He's set to become a restricted free agent this season and could receive a $10 million per year deal from other teams.
