NFL Trade Rumors: Oakland Raiders Consider Releasing Terrelle Pryor; Philadelphia Eagles Could Get Him

The Oakland Raiders could release quarterback Terrelle Pryor, making him a possible target for the Philadelphia Eagles, as Oakland looks to move on with Matt McGloin orchestrating the team's offense in their future campaigns.

The Raiders are in the middle of an overhaul after failing to punch a spot in the postseason once again; the Raiders have failed to make the playoffs since 2002.

Unfortunately for Pryor, the Raiders' front office management seems uninterested in keeping him for the future, now that McGloin stepped up solidly as the team's starting quarterback.

"According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the Raiders are ready to move on from Pryor. McGloin has taken ownership of the top of the depth chart Head coach Dennis Allen has had nothing but praise for the rookie," Sporting World reported last month.

"Despite the lack of wins coming by way of Oakland, McGloin has shown serious signs of potential, all while Pryor sits on the bench. The quarterback is not concerned about his status, only improving on what he can control," the site added.

Pryor secured the starting quarterback role after beating Matt Flynn and rookie Tyler Wilson early in the 2013 season, but his injured knee opened the window of opportunity for McGloin to prove his worth.

The 24-year old McGloin covered 1,547 yards with eight touchdowns last season while Pryor covered 1,798 yards with seven TDs and 11 interceptions.

With the Raiders becoming more confident in McGloin as their starting quarterback next season, Pryor admitted that he's a bit upset about his situation, though he cannot control it.

"Right now Matt's the quarterback," Pryor told San Francisco Chronicle via Sporting World. "The only thing I can do is control what I can control and just keep getting better. That's where we're at."

"It's just push forward and find ways to get better. You could always put your head down and cry and whine about it and talk behind everyone's back, but there's another way," he added.

The Raiders have the option to trade Pryor or release him before training camp. If they plan to part ways with the former Ohio State Buckeyes signal-caller, the Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Chip Kelly will be there to pounce on the big and speedy quarterback.

"Kelly's fast-paced offense relies on a big, fast running quarterback. Pryor fits that bill. That's why Kelly heavily recruited Pryor to Oregon. Pryor said he was intrigued, but he ended up staying close to home and he went to Ohio State," ESPN NFL writer Bill Williamson said in his Jan. 16 report.

"It would be far from a given to think Pryor would be atop Kelly's wish list. But because of the previous interest and the scheme fit, Sprow is right. Pryor belongs on the list," he added.
