Stanislas Wawrinka and Tomas Berdych will look to extend their surprising tournament campaigns when they face each other in the Australian Open 2014 semifinals Thursday.

Wawrinka and Berdych will face off at 3:30 a.m. EST at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne.

The eighth-seeded Wawrinka booked a semifinals spot when he finally emerged victorious against tournament favorite Novak Djokovic in another epic showdown on Tuesday. The Swiss finally snapped his 14-match losing skid against the three-time defending Australian Open champion.

Wawrinka, who pushed the Serbian tennis ace to the limits in their showdowns at the 2013 Australian and U.S. Open, finally got the monkey off his back on Tuesday as he escaped with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 9-7 five-set victory in their quarterfinals encounter.

"He knows how to play now on the big stage," Djokovic said on Wawrinka after their thrilling showdown. "You could feel that with his game. He's really taking it to the opponent and stepping in. When you're playing like this, only thing I can say is congratulations."

Berdych, on the other hand, is also coming off a masterful win against a heavily-favored opponent.

The 28-year-old Czech, the seventh-seeded player of the tournament, will be making his first Australian Open semi-final appearance after cruising to a 6-1, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over third seed David Ferrer.

Berdych has only dropped one set heading into Thursday's showdown, but the odds are stacked against him.

Wawrinka defeated Berdych in their last six tour matches, including a fourth-round victory in the 2013 U.S. Open in New York and a semifinal victory in the 2013 Madrid Open in Spain.

In other key matches today, women's fourth-seeded Li Na of China and fifth-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland, who are now tipped to face each other in the finals after the early-tournament favorites were booted out, will also take court today.

Li will go up against surprise semifinalist Eugenie Bouchard of Canada in the second match of the 7 p.m. EST session. The semis match between Dominika Cibulkova and fifth seed Radwanska will start right after the Li-Bouchard showdown.
