British rock band Coldplay has released a new music video for its single "Hymn for the Weekend" which features singer Beyonce.

Entertainment Weekly said that the song is the second single in their album "A Head Full of Dreams."

Beyonce, along with lead singer Chris Martin, sings for Coldplay's new track that was shot in Mumbai, a city in India's west coast.

Martin was seen singing along the colourful streets of the Indian city and on top of its buildings while Beyonce is the "angelic star" in the music video as she was dressed as an Indian woman in a colorful costume.

A Billboard report added that the recently-released video became a hot topic because of the Indian-inspired theme.

Some did not like the video noting that the music video, especially Beyonce, highlighted "cultural appropriation."

"Just because it's Beyoncé, doesn't mean she's right. She is being offensive and appropriating our culture," said Desi Girl Problems on Twitter.

While it gathered a negative reaction from some, there were also netizens who appreciated Beyonce's Bollywood appearance.

Twitter user @BuzzingBey said he appreciated the pop diva's image on Coldplay's video.

"I adore Beyoncé for embracing my culture. In a country where I'm a 'terrorist' I have never felt more accepted," he said.

Beyonce is not the only star who was featured in the video as Indian actress Sonam Kapoor also had a cameo role.

Mumbai Mirror shared that Kapoor expressed her happiness for being part of the video.

"I love Coldplay's music and so does the world. It was a huge honour to be a part of the video. It's a great concept and I had a lot of fun shooting for it," she told Mumbai Mirror.

The actress, who plays a "mystical muse" in the video, reportedly shot her part last October at the Golfa Devi Temple, an old Hindu temple in Worli.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the video was released a week before the band will perform at the Super Bowl 50.

There are also reports that Beyonce will be joining the band for their show.

"There are always guests. I don't see why this show would be different," show director Hamish Hamilton said in the Entertainment Weekly report.

Aside from this, the same report added that the band will also tour North America to promote their new album and will start at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on July 16.

They are also set to tour Latin America and Europe with stops in Buenos Aires and Argentina.
