YouTube's biggest superstar, Felix Kjellberg, more popularly known as PewDiePie has asked his fans, collectively known as "The Bro Army" to subscribe to YouTube Red. The YouTube star explained as to why it is necessary for the fans to subscribe for the paid service.

PewDiePie is best known for his Let's Play videos on YouTube, in which he has gained a loyal fandom. The 26-year-old also makes V-logs, sometimes collaborating with other YouTube stars. The Swedish-born YouTuber has garnered over 39 million subscribers on YouTube, which is more than popular music artists like Rihanna or Justin Bieber. Recently, Pewdie took to his channel to explain to his fans on the necessity of YouTube Red and how it affected their favorite channels.

"YouTube Red exists largely as an effort to counter Adblock," said the 26-year old star on his official Tumblr account.

While PewDie said that he has nothing against those who choose to block ads while watching a video, he was also quick to address the disadvantages of opting to do so especially to those small YouTube channels who make a living from those ads.

"Using Adblock doesn't mean you're clever and above the system... using Adblock has actual consequences." Felix added.

In a report with Tech Radar, Felix explained that the statistics on a small-time YouTube channel would be "devastating". He further said that he did not mine viewers using Adblock on his channel, but he also urged fans to subscribe to YouTube's paid service.

"It's worth noting right away that my show Scary PewDiePie will be available via YouTube Red." the internet celebrity said in closing.

The paid service costs $9.99 a month. Felix was recently named the highest paid YouTuber by Forbes Magazine, earning $7.4 million in 2014. The Swedish-born gamer also added that his research said that around 40% of his subscribers used Adblock and this he said would make a negative impact on other channels.

Felix also said that despite YouTube having a billion viewers, the website does not seem to be making any profits. This was per a report with The Daily Mail earlier this year which also said that streaming services like HBO and Amazon are some of YouTube's biggest threats. This prompted YouTube to urge artists to sign up for the new Red subscription deal, or have all their content removed.

The 26-year-old internet celebrity also recently spoke out to his fans on a serious video telling his "bros" that his videos are more than just the money and that he actually enjoys what he does.

"I just feel like it's not important to anyone," he said. "I just want to make entertaining videos. Don't get me wrong, though. I don't hate money. I'm not going to pretend it doesn't matter to me because it matters to everyone.
