"Tron: Legacy" star Olivia Wilde has finally spoken up and expressed her wish to play Captain Marvel, which seems to be one of the most coveted characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Wilde has recently expressed her thoughts in an interview with Cinema Blend about how female superheroes should be given the same treatment as their male counterparts. "The thing with female superheroes is that, in order to be powerful, they are flawless. The idea of kick-ass power lacks a certain nuance, at times," the 31-year-old American actress explained.

In her mind, Wilde also believes that there is no better person to give the proper portrayal of a heroine than a female director. "There is something to be said for a female director working to create a female superhero that perhaps [has] a little more complexity," she added.

In connection with this, a recent report from Yahoo News notes that Wilde seemed to have had "Meadowland" helmer Reed Morano in mind when she expressed her opinion.

In a Twitter post from a fan that Morano shared to her, she had openly expressed her interest to portray the powerful Marvel heroine "Captain Marvel" in the character's solo film alongside the female director.

"We're now convinced that @ReedMorana and @OliviaWilde should make 'Captain Marvel' together," the post from Film School Rejects read, with the addition of a link to a report from the outlet explaining why they want the duo to work on that particular project.

According to Film School Rejects, one of their readers took the initiative to ask the cinematographer-turned-director whether or not she would like to do the project via TwitterIn response, the newbie director posted: "@MC_Nedelsky @rejectnation @oliviawilde um...hell yes!!!"

Based on her reaction to Morana's shared Tweet, Wilde revealed that Marvel has not tapped her or shown any interest to give her the role yet but admitted that she finds the idea of taking on the superhero interesting.

During her talk with Cinema Blend, Wilde showed her admiration for how Marvel handled the movie adaptation of the male superheroes and thinks they could do the same for the female ones.

"Marvel has been so smart about casting unexpected people for these roles. Look at what Robert Downey brought to Iron Man. A real, dry sense of humor and a complexity to his hero balance. I think that the way these Marvel heroes are written, the female superheroes included, do have complexity and flaws," she explained.

With Natalie Dormer, Emily Blunt and Ronda Rousey also expressing their interest to play the character, Marvel definitely has a difficult choice.
