Netflix has finally released a trailer for the Adam Sandler-starrer "The Ridiculous 6" in the wake of racial stereotype controversy that plagued the film during its early production.

In April, Entertainment Weekly reported about how some Native American actors walked out from the set of the film "due to offensive jokes and inaccuracies between nations."

First reported in the Indian Country Today Media Network, the walk out incident reportedly involved 12 actors and actresses together with one cultural advisor from the Navajo nation based on a statement from actor Loren Anthony.

"I was asked a long time ago to do some work on this and I wasn't down for it. Then they told me it was going to be a comedy, but it would not be racist. So I agreed to it but on Monday things started getting weird on the set," Anthony told the outlet.

He further explained that the first time he felt insulted on set was when they were given inaccurate costumes when they were supposed to portray the Apache.

"We were supposed to be Apache, but it was really stereotypical and we did not look Apache at all. We looked more like Comanche," he explained.

The outlet also cited some examples of such insults in the spoof that was allegedly directed to the Native American culture which included sexually offensive portrayals of Indian women and stereotypes like the "drunk Indian."

However, Netflix had denied such allegations to Entertainment Weekly, saying that the film was entitled as such because the plot is "ridiculous."

"The movie has ridiculous in the title for a reason: because it is ridiculous. It is a broad satire of Western movies and the stereotypes they popularized, featuring a diverse cast that is not only part of-but in on-the joke," the streaming site's spokesperson told EW.

Sandler expressed his concern on the matter by telling the Associated Press, as cited by Polygon, that it was entirely a huge misunderstanding adding that everything would be cleared up once the movie was released.

"It's really about American Indians being good to my character and about their family and just being good people. There's no mocking of American Indians at all in the movie. It's a pro-Indian movie," he explained.

Now, a preview of the film was released which, according to Entertainment Weekly, showed no jokes or any kind of humor directed at Native Americans with the A-list comedian "playing it surprisingly straight."

The film, which stars Sandler, Woody Harrelson, Terry Crews, Taylor Lautner, and Luke Wilson, portrays six bank-robbing cowboys and half-brothers on their journey in the Old West.

According to Polygon, "The Ridiculous 6" is the first of Sandler's four-movie deal with the streaming site and is set to be released on Netflix on December 11, 2015.
