Google announced the final version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow in a press event held in San Francisco last month. Company officials have announced that users of the Nexus devices have already received the update on their devices. Other Android users can expect their OS to be updated in the upcoming months.

The new Android 6.0 Marshmallow update comes with a variety of features that will benefit many Android users. One of these new features include the Doze application that improves the battery life of the device. These days, many Android users find that battery life would be one of the specs needed on a smartphone or device, a report from Neuro Gadget says.

Additionally, the brand new Android OS will enhance Google's personal assistant with the new "Google Now On Tap" feature. With this innovative new feature, Google Now On Tap will allow Google's personal assistant to research additional information about a certian topic without having to exit the current application the Android user has open.

The website also reported that the Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come equipped with a fingerprint reader, which will allow users to access the new and more secure Android Pay feature or to make purchases on Google Play.

In addition, the look and feel of the display screen and widgets are simpler. The brand new interface allows users scroll through a single, vertically scrolling row of icons with four of the most used applications featured atop the tray. There is also a search bar that Android phone owners can use at their convenience.

Meanwhile, the new OS features App Standby, which would allow users to automatically flip through applications into an idle state to further save battery. Marshmallow also disables applications that haven't been used recently, or aren't running or generating notifications.

Android Geeks also reported that Android 6.0 Marshmallow allows users more customization options, which can be found under Quick Settings. New tiles may now be added to Quick Settings. The tiles can be removed or re-positioned to the user's liking.

Marshmallow 6.0 is considered by many to be a step above the previous OS. Many of the users who have already received the update say that it is a welcome update from its predecessor. The new features, such as the Now on Tap, improved permissions, and Flex Storage are welcome additions to a constantly improving OS.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Samsung Galaxy S5, One Plus One, and LG G4 will most likely be released towards the end of 2015 or in early 2016.
